A New Era in Nuclear Medicine

With donor support, the QEII is on track to be the first health centre in Canada to have the most advanced nuclear medicine technology in the world — a game-changer for patients facing life-altering diseases.

LIFE-CHANGING PRECISION.

More accurate disease assessment will lead to enhanced treatment options and better patient outcomes.

Right now, the nuclear medicine scanners at the QEII are outdated and operating at full capacity, working hard to scan thousands of patients each year. Now, we have the opportunity to bring the best nuclear medicine technology in the world to the QEII.

The StarGuide Hybrid SPECT/CT scanners detect and assess certain diseases that is not possible with the existing technology. Providing healthcare teams with a clearer picture of how disease is changing or advancing.

This advanced technology can scan more patients, faster, cutting scan times in half and helping to improve patient comfort. And for patients who are waiting for these critical scans, they will move off waitlists faster and closer to treatment.

Donors like you can help bring two new nuclear medicine scanners to the QEII. This new technology will impact more than 4,000 patient scans each year across many care areas, with a laser focus on cancer and heart disease — the two leading causes of death amongst Canadians.
